Sexual Assault Awareness Month

Every 73 seconds, an American is sexually assaulted.

2021 marks the 20th anniversary of SAAM (Sexual Assault Awareness Month).

However, Sexual Assault Awareness history dates back all the way back to the 1940s and 50s when social change equality began to gain traction. In 1971, the first rape crisis center was founded in San Francisco. Since then, many events, groups, acts, etc. have been established.

This year, the theme for SAAM is “We can build safe online spaces.”

“Sexual harassment, assault, and abuse can happen anywhere, including in online spaces. As we connect online, we can learn how to practice digital consent, intervene when we see harmful content or behaviors, and ensure that online spaces — whether they be workspaces, classrooms, social media platforms, or otherwise — are respectful and safe.” - National Sexual Violence Resource Center (NSVRC)

The Resource team is excited to announce that we will be hosting a Sexual Assault Livestream Panel this Summer 2021.

This will be a safe space for survivors and experts to come together, share knowledge, and be empowered. We hope you will join us and support those speaking as well as learn and grow with us.
