Santa Barbara Colleges of Law Goes to Cuba

Dr. Teri Jory with the Team from the Santa Barbara and Ventura Colleges of Law (students, professors, administration, Board members) ventured into the vibrant city of Havana and beyond to do field study work involving an Environmental Law comparison between the United States and Cuba. Believe it or not, Cuba is a leading environmental model in the world – out of necessity.

Due to the years-long trade embargo imposed by the US, preventing U.S. businesses from conducting trade with Cuban interests, Cuba has been forced to adapt to survive.

Below we have an up-close look at the city of Havana and beyond, from the eclectic rhythms of the Buena Vista Social Club to the sustainable farms of Finca Marta, Teri and the Team explored all they could, learning and experiencing everything Havana has to offer. Classic cars roam the streets carrying tourists around the art-packed city, while all around the sounds of Cuban music, fill the air.
