WHAT IS LOVE

A Teen Dating Violence Prevention Program

Teaches Young People, Parents, and Schools How to Identify Healthy & Unhealthy Relationships

Finding and maintaining healthy relationships is one of the most important endeavors of our lives and despite that, we can find ourselves in situations that are often abusive and dangerous without the necessary skills to navigate them.

Christy Stillwell, founder of the organization What Is Love, has worked for the last twenty years to pass on her knowledge of what it means to create healthy relationships that endure, starting in childhood. Christy is a high school dropout and teen runaway, who experienced violence both physical and emotional, from her father. Despite this, she learned how to be a strong, compassionate voice.

Through her own experiences and education (M.A. in Counseling Psychology), Christy learned to be a champion for those who are experiencing similar violence at home, and teaching those kids how to navigate their own trauma and start to form healthy relationships.

Federal Funding Cuts and STESA’s Chocolate De Vine

Now more than ever it is crucial to come out and support our local services for victims services after funding for these services is facing cuts at a federal level. Services that would lose funding include rape crisis centers, domestic violence shelters, and child abuse programs. STESA’s annual gala fundraiser, Chocolate De Vine, is a great way to come out and show your support for these crucial services.

Standing Together To End Sexual Assault (STESA) is one of many programs that would lose funding amounting to hundreds of thousands of dollars. The largest federal funding source for these services is The Victims of Crimes Act (VOCA), which has a proposed funding cut of nearly $700 million. Organizations like STESA are now faced with decisions to reduce human and financial resources that would drastically diminish the critical services they provide to our communities.

Show your support and enjoy an afternoon of wine and chocolate:
