Summertime Surge

The summer surge continues, while nowhere near the winter level, it is important now and always to practice covid caution because cases are still elevated in Santa Barbara County and across California.

County Public Health reports 839 active cases, 108 new cases and 25 of those people have been hospitalized. Test positivity is sitting at 12.3% per 100,000 people.

There have been 93,186 total reported cases in the county and 694 deaths over the course of the pandemic and one new death this past week.

Vaccinations

According to the Community Dashboard, 69.2% of the county has been fully vaccinated, included those who are not eligible. Of those who are eligible, 73.5% have been fully vaccinated and 81.1% have received at least one dose.

Cases remain the most prevalent among those who have not been vaccinated. From the latest report on June 8th of cases per 100,000 by vaccination status, 97,500 of infected individuals were unvaccinated and 23,700 were fully vaccinated and boosted. Unvaccinated cases were over four times the amount of those who were fully vaccinated.
