Beaches Remain Closed in Santa Barbara County

Channelkeeper’s Penny Owens tells us that West Beach and East Beach at Mission Creek in Santa Barbara County remain closed due to the recent sewage spill. The County lifted the beach closure at Miramar and Fernald Point beaches that were due to the 5,000 gallons of sewage spill. Most of the beaches have been issued an “advisory” status because although this week’s sample is below the single sample threshold, the 30-day mean exceeds the state standard.
